Estimator - Commercial Office Fit-Out & Refurbishment
High-End Office & Commercial Interiors | Competitive Salary | Exciting Projects
A leading commercial office fit-out and refurbishment company in Ryde NSW is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial in preparing accurate cost estimates, pricing projects competitively, and ensuring profitability while maintaining quality standards.
If you have experience in office fit-outs, refurbishment, or commercial construction, this is an excellent opportunity to work on high-end corporate, government, and coworking space projects.
Your Key Duties & Responsibilities are:
Estimating & Costing
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for office fit-out and refurbishment projects
- Assess project specifications, drawings, and client requirements
- Conduct material take-offs and prepare bill of quantities (BOQ)
- Source and price materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment
- Prepare and submit competitive tenders, bids, and proposals
Tendering & Proposal Management
- Review and analyse tender documents to meet all requirements
- Liaise with clients, architects, designers, and project managers to clarify project details
- Prepare and present cost breakdowns, tender submissions, and pricing schedules
- Work with the business development team to support bid strategies
Supplier & Subcontractor Management
- Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Negotiate pricing and terms to secure the best value
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals for accuracy and feasibility
Risk & Value Engineering
- Identify potential project risks and cost-saving opportunities
- Conduct value engineering exercises for cost-effective alternatives
- Ensure estimates align with project timelines, specifications, and budgets
Financial & Reporting Responsibilities
- Analyse project costs, margins, and profitability before submission
- Maintain a database of costings, supplier pricing, and historical project data
- Assist in post-tender negotiations and financial forecasting
Compliance & Industry Standards
- Ensure all estimates comply with Australian building codes, WHS regulations, and industry standards
- Stay updated on material costs, construction methodologies, and sustainability trends
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in estimating within the office fit-out, refurbishment, or commercial construction sector
- Strong knowledge of materials, labour costs, and construction methods
- Experience in tender preparation, submission, and bid evaluation
- Familiarity with Australian building codes, and compliance regulations
- Proficiency in estimating software
- Ability to assess project margins and profitability
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
